SPIDocs - The next generation MS SPIDocs
Professor Charlotte Uetrecht ( CSSB, DESY, LIV and Uni Siegen) will coordinate “SPIDoc’s – The next generMS SPIDoc’s” a new Doctoral Network funded within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. The University oSiegen and the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSBB) in Hamburg will be central for the conduction of SPIDoc’s.
SPIDoc’s will integrate 10 projects aiming to a deeper knowledge of the dynamic nature of viral structures by applying cutting-edge approaches combining native mass spectrometry, X-rays for single particle imaging (SPI) and molecular dynamics simulation.
“Interdisciplinary training enables the young scientists in SPIDoc’s to contribute to the expansion of the knowledge and applications of structural biology”
Prof. Dr. Kai Grünewald – CSSB Scientific Director
By combining the interdisciplinary and intersectoral expertise of 7 beneficiaries and 8 associated partners , including academic and non-academic sectors, SPI Doc’s will train the doctoral candidates by offering lectures and practical sessions ranging from theory, instrument development and application. All doctoral candidates will also be trained in regards of data management and the establishment of standards for native MS metadata. The research training will be complemented by transferrable skills courses, supporting career and personal development of the doctoral candidates. The involvement of several partners will allow the doctoral candidates to do interdisciplinary and intersectoral secondments in a hosting research environment.
“It is great to see that the experience gained in the MS SPIDOC consortium will contribute to the education of the next generation scientists”
Prof. Dr. Charlotte Uetrecht – Coordinator SPIDoc’s
